The table is designed to be made from reclaimed Zambezi Teak trees, one of the hardest timbers in the world, that died between 50 and 100 years ago in the Caprivi Strip of Namibia and Sesheke district of Western Zambia. At that time the local villagers adopted a practice (no longer allowed) of ring barking the Zambezi Teak trees to grow crops as they were too difficult to cut down. Each table will be a great challenge to make. The legs will have a wonderful curve to them sourced from the junction of the main bole of the tree and a major branch, much as the shipwrights of old would source exactly to right shaped oak tree from which to fashion the keel of a man o war. The tables will be limited. Proceeds will go to the Reg Park Legacy Foundation. |
