Anti Poaching

Dozens of people have been arrested for chopping wood for fuel and this continues to be a major problem as we seek alternatives for this type of poacher. Savanna Wood offered their off-cuts for free to the communities and this definitely made a huge impact on wood poaching incidences, as cases recorded dropped dramatically.

We conduct extensive awareness training with local Vic Falls communities on the use of the Savanna Sawdust stove and give the sawdust away free and find sponsors to supply the tins so that the communities can have free cooking and heating energy to help stop illegal wood poaching and assist poor households who are paying heavily for firewood from illegal wood poachers.

The Savanna Stove invented by Savanna Wood’s Richard Lowe is set to stop the poaching of indigenous trees for firewood and change the way rural Africa cook, and heat their homes on a daily basis.

This simple but ingenious invention by Richard Lowe uses no more than a 5 liter paint tin size device and a small bag of saw dust to provide cooking facilities for more than 20 000 families from one single saw mill. If Saw mills across Africa adapt this genius invention it will not only conserve our forests for generations to come but dramatically reduce the emission of harmful carbon gasses into the atmosphere.
